End of an Era in Thorold as Students Prepare for New Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School

It’s the end of an era at St. Charles and Monsignor Clancy Catholic Elementary Schools in Thorold. On the last day of school, K-3 students at St. Charles left their school for the last time.

After more than 60 years in Thorold, St. Charles Catholic Elementary School will close its doors forever, and students will be relocated to the Monsignor Clancy site, which is being renamed Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School, in alignment with the parish church in the community.

On June 22, students from St. Charles Catholic Elementary School walked and rode to Monsignor Clancy to get a sneak peek at their new classrooms. A highlight of the visit was the Grade 8s creating an honour guard for the St. Charles students, captured in the photos below.

Work will continue at the Monsignor Clancy site over the summer. An official blessing and opening of the new Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School will take place later this year.
