Grade 5 Runner’s Incredible Act of Sportsmanship at Elementary Track Meet Touches Hearts in Niagara Catholic

Here’s your #FeelGoodFriday story of the day, and everyone, we promise you will LOVE it!

This is a photo of Gracie and Rodina.

Gracie is in Grade 5 at St. Mary CES in Welland. Rodina is in Grade 5 at Mary Ward CES in Niagara Falls.

This week, Gracie and Rodina were competitors in the 400m race at the Board’s elementary track and field meet.

Rodina tripped – thankfully, she wasn’t badly hurt – and Gracie stopped running to help her. Gracie stayed with Rodina until the medics came and then walked with her across the finish line and we could not be prouder of her for being such a wonderful competitor!!

This is friendship.

This is sacrifice.

This is sportsmanship.

This is putting the needs of someone else ahead of your own.

This is living the Gospel to “do unto others.”

This is loving your neighbour.

This is being the hands, feet, and face of Christ.

This is Niagara Catholic.
