It’s almost time for your child to start kindergarten! It’s an exciting time for your family, and for families sending a little one off to school for the first time, it can mean a lot of questions. We’re here to give you the information you need to successfully register your child for school.

All Roman Catholic children have the right to attend Catholic school in Ontario, and priority is given to those who have been baptized into the faith. Non-Catholic children of parents who are Roman Catholic are accepted at a principal’s discretion, such as when space is available (Catholic parents must show their own baptism record to prove they are Roman Catholic), followed by students in non-Catholic families.

Niagara Catholic will host open houses for parents of future kindergarten students in February. Please check the list below for the date and time of the event at your child’s future school. There’s no need to pre-register to attend – simply show up at a convenient time and learn more about kindergarten.

Not sure which school your child will attend? Click here to discover your child’s home school. This page also includes information about transportation eligibility.

Niagara Catholic elementary students dress in a navy and white dress code. Families can purchase items at a store that is convenient to them and fits their budget. Learn more about Niagara Catholic’s elementary dress code here.

If you’re ready to register, please visit our registration page to get started. This page offers information about Niagara for those new to the area, as well as information about Catholic education and Niagara Catholic. When you are ready to register, click here and you will be taken to Easy Register, the platform where all school registrations are completed. You will need to create an account to complete the registration.

Please note:

  • This system works for families of Roman Catholic children If your child is not Catholic, it will direct you to complete the request to register in school.
  • The system defaults to the child’s home school, as students are expected to attend their home school. If you are requesting an exception for any reason, you must contact the school you wish your child to attend. Admissions are made at the discretion of the principal, based on factors such as available space. This information may not be available until near the start of the school year, after all enrollment is completed. We advise all families that if your child is permitted to attend to an out-of-bounds school and transportation is required, it is not provided by the Board and is a parental responsibility.
  • You will still have to go to the school to complete your child's registration. Please arrive prepared with your child's birth certificate, baptism record (or yours), their immunization record, and proof of address to avoid having to return with documentation.

If you still have questions, visit our Kindergarten Program page for information about what your child will learn and do in kindergarten. This page also includes information about admission, transportation and before and after-school childcare. Be sure to follow Niagara Catholic on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates and information this year.

We look forward to welcoming your child to kindergarten in September!
